On December 15th, doors opened to the public for the first time at the Museum of Mathematics in Manhattan, the newest New York museum. Dubbed “MoMath”, the 10,000 square foot museum is dedicated solely to math for children ages 8 to 13. It is the only museum in the country with this designation.
Far from a dust-collector, MoMath is full of interactive exhibits that engage and educate students in vastly different ways. The “Square-Wheeled Trike” and “Wall of Fire” are a few of the 30-plus exhibitions found throughout the $15 million dollar museum.
Rakks was proud to be a part of this freshly innovative museum, as a Rakks shelving system was selected for the MoMath gift shop. The architectural firm on the project was BKSK Architects and Metropolitan Architectural Woodwork purchased and installed the Rakks shelving.
Rakks aluminum PD6 double support poles were incorporated into a glass shelving design along the walls of the beautiful gift shop. Here, students can buy games and puzzles that are just as interactive and educational as the exhibits featured throughout the museum.
